Maths through ceilidh

Our Digital Schools Sessions bring the museum to your classroom. To mark Maths Week Scotland, and this year’s theme of Maths in Motion, we are delighted to partner with the team at Science Ceilidh for this free session. Read our FAQs for further information about our sessions.

Sessions are free of charge and are available to UK-based schools only.

By the end of the session, we will have

  • We will explore counting and understanding the beats underlying different music and time signatures
  • We will explore symmetries through different ceilidh and dance moves 
  • We will encourage pupils to get creative and develop their own movements and dances which explore symmetries
