As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, on Tuesday 17 March we made the decision to close all our museums to the public until further notice. We don’t yet know how long this will be, but we will keep you updated as things become clearer.
In light of this, all Membership payments will be suspended throughout the period of closure. This means you will not lose out and that once our doors re-open you, your friends and family can continue to make the most out of your museum Membership.
We are deeply grateful to all our Members for your continued loyalty and the many kind words we received in response to our announcement about closing. Your support is helping us to protect our collections through a time of immense uncertainty, so that when our doors reopen, our objects and their stories can be enjoyed by everyone for many years into the future. Thank you for making this possible.
Here’s what this might mean for you:
If you recently joined as a Member or renewed your Membership and pay by direct debit: Your payment will not be collected until our museums re-open* and your Membership expiry date will be extended by the time period covered by our museum closures.
If your Membership is due for renewal by direct debit in the next few months:
Your renewal payment will not be taken until our museums re-open* and your Membership expiry date will be extended by the time period covered by our museum closures.
Whether you pay via direct debit or cash, your Membership expiry date will be extended by the time period covered by our museum closures.
You will not need a new Membership card to enjoy your Member benefits once our museums reopen. Your current card will be valid beyond the expiry date for the time period covered by our museum closures.
Following Government guidance, the Membership office is now closed but the Membership team is working from home and monitoring our email inbox, so please don’t hesitate to drop us an email if you have any questions at email@example.com.

* You will be notified in writing at least 10 days in advance of this payment coming out of your bank account. Your current Membership end date will be extended by the time period covered by our museum closure before the payment is taken. For example if you are due to renew in April, with payment due at the beginning of May, and the museums are closed for a month your Membership will be extended by one month with payment due in June instead.
