1928 Jean Elizabeth Muir born 17 July in London

1950 Joined department store Liberty of London as junior stockroom assistant

1956 Joined Jaeger as designer and developed the Young Jaeger range

1962 – 1966 Designed for Jane & Jane, an influential label of the sixties

1966 Established Jean Muir Ltd with husband Harry Leuckert in August, first collection presented in October

1983 Launched Jean Muir in Cotton and Jean Muir in Wool collections

1984 Launched Jean Muir at Home and Jean Muir for Men collections

1985 Sold majority interest in Jean Muir Ltd to textile manufacturer Coats Plc

1985 – 1995 Developed Jean Muir Studio collections

1988 Presented the Australian Bicentennial Collection at the Sydney Opera House

1989 Regained ownership of Jean Muir Ltd from Coats Plc

1991 25th anniversary of Jean Muir Ltd

1995 Jean Muir died 28 May in London

2004 Jean Muir shop opened on London’s Conduit St in August

2006 40th anniversary of Jean Muir Ltd

2007 Closure of Jean Muir Ltd
