We provide a number of galleries and activities especially for
children and an exciting events calendar for all ages. Visit
our What's on pages to find out more and
directions to the Learning Centre below.
Eating in the museum
Children are welcome in our new Balcony Café and Museum
Brasserie and there are special treats for children. There are also
areas where packed lunches can be eaten - the page on Eating in the museum has more information.
Access and facilities
The National Museum of Scotland has baby changing
facilities on most floors and our exhibitions and galleries are
accessible to all via lifts and ramps. You can
download a map of the museum (pdf) to see the exact
locations of our baby changing facilities and lifts.
Trained first aiders on duty and a policy is in place if
children become separated from their party.
How to find the Learning Centre
We often hold events and activities for children in the Learning
Centre.
To find the the Learning Centre Seminar Rooms, make your way to
the green cast iron fountain in the centre of the Grand Gallery.
From here go through the large archway to the Millennium Clock.
From here you can either take the escalator to the third floor,
walk past the exhibition shop to the right and take the stairs up
to the fourth floor, then turn right and follow signs to the
Seminar Rooms.
If you prefer to use the lift, go beyond the Millennium Clock
through the Discoveries gallery and bear right, making your way to
the stairwell in the corner. Take the lift to Level 4 and follow
signs to the Seminar Rooms
