The Executive Team is accountable for the sustainable operation of National Museums Scotland. They are responsible for implementing the strategy agreed by of the Board of Trustees.
Dr Chris Breward
Director of National Museums Scotland
Responsible for implementing the policies and objectives agreed by the Board of Trustees for the strategic direction of National Museums Scotland, providing leadership for all colleagues, and ensuring the effective operation of our organisation.
Dr Sam Alberti, FRSE
Director of Collections
Responsible for curatorial departments, research policy and programmes, collections management and conservation.
Ruth Gill
Director of Public Programmes
Responsible for content development and programming, which includes Exhibitions, Design, Displays, Technical Services and Learning & Programmes. Ruth also leads on the Sustainability Action Plan across the whole the organisation.
Helen Ireland
Director of External Relations
Responsible for Marketing & Communications, Digital Media, Fundraising, National & International Partnerships and Visitor Experience.
Keith Pentland
Director of Finance & Resources
Responsible for the Finance team, the People team, Estates, Facilities Management, Information & Knowledge Management team, ICT team and the Corporate Policy & Performance Department.
