About Sensory Sunday: National Museum of Flight
Children with additional support needs and disabilities and their families can explore the museum’s collections, get creative and meet other families.
Sensory Sunday sessions are relaxed, fun, hands-on, and respond to the needs of the families participating. You are welcome to come and go at any point during the session.
Attendees can take their time exploring the museum as a family before and after the session.
These sessions are suitable for:
- Children with additional support needs
- Neurodivergent children
- Disabled children.
Good to know
- While the Sensory Sunday session is free, attendees need to purchase general admission to the National Museum of Flight
- The content is aimed at children ages 5 - 10 but we welcome all families who think they might enjoy these sessions
- Refreshments will be provided
- A visual story for this event will be shared in advance.
Accessibility and facilities
We want everyone who comes to our museums to enjoy their time with us and make the most of their visit.
How to get to the space
The Education Centre is next to the Conservation Hangar.
You can travel around the airfield on foot or by car.
There are four accessible parking spaces outside the Conservation Hangar.
The door to the Education Centre is not automatic. It can be opened by pulling towards you.
There is ramped access to the centre.
Wheelchair access
There is significant space to use a wheelchair in the centre.
You can borrow a wheelchair from the information desk in the museum shop. There are a limited number of wheelchairs available to borrow.

Seating
There is no fixed seating in the Education Centre.
Hearing induction loop
There is no induction loop in the Education Centre.
Toilets and baby changing facilities
There are toilets in the Centre next to the main entrance.
There are standard toilets and an accessible toilet.
There are no baby changing facilities in the Education Centre. Check the museum map for the nearest facilities.
There are no Changing Places toilets on site.
