Postcode Lottery

Thanks to support from players of the Postcode Lottery, we are able to create opportunities for people of all ages, abilities and walks of life to enjoy our museums and connect with inspiring collections.

We are very grateful to Postcode Lottery players for the £6 million in funding we have received through the Postcode Culture Trust. At this time of great uncertainty, support from players of the Postcode Lottery is more vital than ever to ensure we can continue to protect our collections and share their stories.

Conserving the Nation’s heritage

Players of the Postcode Lottery fund behind the scenes work at the National Museums Collection Centre. Funding ensures that objects and the stories they tell are preserved for future generations. This funding supports our expert conservators to care for objects and contribute to the understanding of an object, sometimes uncovering new information that can enhance the stories we share with visitors.

Every object that's displayed through exhibitions, loans, and tours, needs to be conserved. Postcode Lottery players help us to do this.

Engaging families with culture

Support from players of the Postcode Lottery has improved access to culture by funding free family programming and access programmes. These programmes make our museums more welcoming for people with different needs.

Our Summer Family Fun programme is supported by Postcode Lottery players. Each week new themes are explored including Scottish stories, round the world adventures, and insight into the natural world. This programming is free and drop-in, making it easy for families to participate and enjoy the museum.
