About Cold War Scotland exhibition visit
Explore Scotland’s critical position on the front line of the Cold War and hear the stories of the Scots at the centre of this global conflict.
'Cold War Scotland' runs from Saturday 13 July 2024 to Sunday 4 January 2026.
What will my pupils do?
Pupils will get the opportunity to:
- Explore the role of Scotland and Scottish people in the Cold War.
- Discover the impact of American service personnel stationed here.
- Learn about protest against nuclear weapons.
- See contemporary objects relating to the themes.

Timings
Check your booking for timings and arrive at the museum at least 15 minutes before the start of your exhibition visit slot.
Due to limited space in the gallery, we ask classes to split into smaller groups of up to 18 to visit the exhibition. Suggested dwell time is 30 minutes.
Morning slots: 10:15-10:45 and 11:00-11:30
Afternoon slots: 13:30-14:00 and 14:15-14:45

Booking Terms and Conditions
Cancellation Policy
- National Museums Scotland reserve the right to charge a fee for short notice cancellations or no-shows.
- Bookings cancelled less than 2 weeks prior to the visit will incur an administration fee of £25.
- A charge of £50 will apply to no-show or last-minute cancellations.
- In certain circumstances National Museums Scotland may waive the administration fee.
- Cancellations should be notified in writing to schools@nms.ac.uk.
