For too long, Mary, Queen of Scots in the popular imagination has been dressed in black, her life seen through the lens of her tragic ending. 

Your gift will help create a dazzling new exhibition which will explore the dramatic impacts of religious and cultural disruption on Mary’s life and reveal alternative understandings of Mary – a glittering bride; an educated, wealthy, sophisticated Renaissance Queen; a monarch on a European stage.

Drawing on research, conservation, and design expertise from across the Museum, the exhibition will be a vibrant and immersive retelling of a familiar story, including never before displayed objects.
