About Pilot Training School

Can you master the skills needed by pilots during the Second World War? Drop-in to our family activities to learn if you have what it takes.

  • Navigate: learn how to read a map, use a compass and spot landmarks to work out where you are.
  • Build and fly a paper aeroplane: using our special template, make a glider can be steered left and right.
  • Explore uniform and flying clothing:  find out how pilots stayed smart and warm in their unheated and unpressurised cockpits.

You can also explore the rest of the museum during your visit. Try our pilot aptitude tests in our interactive gallery Fantastic Flight, and use our Second World War Trail to lead you around the site.
