Go behind the scenes on a tour of our state-of-the-art collections and research centre in Granton, Edinburgh.

This is an in-person event at the National Museums Collection Centre, for those aged 14 and over.

Advance booking is essential.

Getting to the National Museums Collection Centre

There is no visitor parking available but there is on-street parking within the vicinity. Further information on parking can be found at www.edinburgh.gov.uk/parking 

Parking for bicycles is available.

A number of buses run to the Collections Centre, including the 8, 16 and 32 Lothian Bus services. More details can be found on the Lothian bus website at www.lothianbuses.com  

Visitors must arrive 15 minutes before your tour is scheduled to start. When you arrive, please report to Reception at the Gatehouse building on the right hand side of the entrance barrier. 

Ticket booking is not possible at the Collection Centre.    

Visiting Safely

Safety measures are in place to ensure your visit is as safe and enjoyable as possible.

Ticketholders will be asked to follow the same visting guidelines as they would if they visited the National Museum of Scotland.

Access

We want everyone who comes to our sites to enjoy their time with us and make the most of their visit. Our Collection Centre is a working site which we are transforming to enable better public access.  

Our tours involve standing and walking on ground level only. If you need a stool, please let us know. The tours move between buildings, so please dress for the weather.  

If you will be using a wheelchair, an assistance dog, require disabled parking or have any other access requirements, please contact publicevents@nms.ac.uk in advance of the tour.  

Carers of disabled people go free.
