Sesh nag or figure of Buddha in bronze, seated on a coiled cobra or naga whose five heads rise above the image: Asia, South Asia, Sri Lanka, 11th century

Physical description

Bronze; one of the five serpents heads has broken off, and there is also a missing piece to the front right hand side of the pedestal. Symbol of a flower over right nipple, the side of the chest not covered by the robes. Faint writing on underside of base, 'Buda From Ceylon'.
