Description

Box and lid, circular; the lid-panel, mouth-rim and footring are of black lacquered wood with mother-of-pearl inlay; the sides are of rattan cane basketry; the panel is decorated with figures in a garden; the mouth-rim and footring are inlaid with coins and petals; the base bears a mother-of-pearl plaque with "Da Ming Wanli": China, possibly Ming dynasty, Wanli reign, 17th century
