Physical description

Of inverted baluster form with a hinged gently domed lid surmounted by a chased ‘pineapple’ finial atop a chased rocaille calyx. With C scroll and female caryatid swing handle, with finely chased imp mask and rocaille junctions, the curved spout with chased fish scale and rocaille reserves with shell terminal. The body and lid with contemporaneous embossed decoration of rocaille C scrolls and trailing flowers with lattice work reserves against a matted ground. The top of handle later engraved with a crest of a lion rampant holding a garb between the paws below the motto Fortis Et Hospetalis and the body later engraved with a coat of arms within a chased foliate scroll and rocaille cartouche.
