The Straits Times, 27 July 1900, Page 2: The rhinoceros which was sent down from Perak to the Austrian Consul here, and was sent to the Botanical Gardens, prior to being forwarded to Vienna, has died. Death was due to a wound in the back caused by a stake which caught the animal when it fell into the pit
