Dr Catherine Eagleton
Catherine Eagleton is University Librarian and Director of Collections and Museums at the University of St Andrews. She is passionate about opening up collections to the widest possible audiences and the potential for digital tools and technologies to advance the purpose and mission of cultural and collections organisations.
She has held a number of senior curatorial and collections positions at the Smithsonian Institution, the British Library and British Museum. She began her career with a PhD in the History of Science and a traineeship at the Science Museum. Her other board and advisory appointments include membership of the Designation Panel for Arts Council England, as a board member for Research Libraries UK, and as inaugural Chair of the Board of the Museum Data Service.
Catherine became a Trustee of National Museums Scotland in October 2026. Her term of appointment runs until September 2030.
