Noah Hearne
Specific responsibility: Curation, care, and access of vertebrate collections.
Research interests/expertise: The global and historic origins of natural history collections and how these can influence and inform the data and meaning we can gain from them.
Noah joined the team in 2026 to contribute to the curation and management of the National Museums Scotland vertebrate collections. Noah studied Biological Sciences at the University of Oxford, followed by an MSc in Taxonomy at Imperial College London and an MA in Museum Studies at University College London. Before joining the NMS, he worked as a collections assistant at the Natural History Museum, London where he worked across modern and palaeontological collections, auditing and stabilising collections in preparation for a historic large-scale collections move.
As well as interest in the global and historic origins of natural history collections Noah is an avid birder and a member of the Scottish Ornithologists’ Club.
