About Autumn Explorers
Our Autumn Explorers family activities are back, with storytelling, sustainable crafts, and the chance to learn all about soil and spiders.
Autumn Explorer sessions and times

Storytelling | 11:00 - 11:30, 12:30 - 13:00, 14:00 - 14:30 (Sign up on the day) | Theatre | Join storyteller, Allison Galbraith in the theatre for the story of a friendly spider and a naughty fly. Spider songs and rhymes that fly guarantee a storytime suitable for all the family. |
Sustainable Spider Craft | 10:30 - 12:30 & 13:30 - 15:30 (drop-in) | Learning Centre | Using recycled eggboxes, make and decorate your very own spider to take home. If you can, please bring along your own recycled eggbox or toilet roll. |
Soil Exploration Station | 10:30 - 12:30 & 13:30 - 15:30 (drop-in) | Learning Centre | Learn all about soil, the creatures that live in it, and what it's made of. Using our mini trowels and forks, find what’s inside our soil patch |
Accessibility and facilities
We want everyone who comes to our museums to enjoy their time with us and make the most of their visit.
Toilets
Adapted toilets are available, including baby changing and an adult changing bench.
Hearing induction loop
There is an induction loop in the cinema.
Outdoor paths
Paths leading to the farm buildings provide firm smooth surfaces for pushchairs and wheelchairs. However, the distance is approximately half a mile and in places, the path is relatively steep.
Farm Explorer tractor trailer
A tractor and trailer, the Farm Explorer, is provided for this purpose and is suitable for wheelchair users. This service is free of charge and runs regularly throughout the day.
Wheelchair access
The ground floor, but not the first floor, of the farmhouse is accessible by wheelchair.
Assistance dogs
Guide dogs, hearing dogs and other recognised assistance dogs are admitted.
