About Gordon Buchanan: Giants of the Land

Join award-winning wildlife filmmaker, presenter and author Gordon Buchanan as he makes his first-ever appearance at the National Museum of Scotland.

In this auditorium talk, Gordon will reflect on 30 years of taking part in daring expeditions, pushing boundaries, and raising awareness of the world’s most endangered species and habitats.

Known for his powerful storytelling and deep commitment to conservation, Gordon will share remarkable stories from the field alongside his own photographs and clips from well-known TV programmes. 

Hear about his thrilling encounters with elephants, polar bears, pandas, grizzly bears and the world’s big cats, as Gordon reveals both the heart-stopping moments and the tender interactions that have shaped his extraordinary career.

Gordon Buchanan

A patron of various environmental and conservation charities, Gordon was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2020 New Year Honours, for services to conservation and wildlife filmmaking. Gordon has also been awarded Honorary Doctorates from the University of Stirling and Queen Mary University of London, and an Honorary Fellowship from the Royal Scottish Geographical Society, in recognition of services to the society and to the wider discipline of geography.
