Caribbean Natural Science Collections in Scottish Museums
'Reveal and Connect: Caribbean Natural Science Collections in Scottish Museums', funded by the John Ellerman Foundation, was the second phase of the partnership project 'Reveal and Connect: African and Caribbean Collections in Scottish Museums'.
There were two main aims to this collaboration: to reveal Caribbean natural science collections in Scottish museums through a published national review; and to foster a network that connects collection holders with museums and communities in the Caribbean, and people of Caribbean descent in Scotland.
A consortium – led by National Museums Scotland, and including Glasgow Life Museums, The Hunterian, University of Glasgow, and University of Aberdeen Collections – worked in partnership with seven organisations across Scotland that hold Caribbean natural science collections. There was continual involvement from an Advisory Group representing organisations in the Caribbean, and diaspora organisations in Scotland.
This review report is intended to be a starting point for future research, partnerships, and dialogue.
This project has been funded by the John Ellerman Foundation.
