About The Romans: Meet the Gods
Meet the gods that the Romans in Scotland turned to for help and protection. In this interactive session, pupils discover how people used objects to interact with the gods, who these gods were and how different people used them.
Classes also get a first digital look at the Mithras altars, discovered at Inveresk, near Edinburgh, and featured in the new exhibition 'Roman Scotland: Life on the Edge of Empire'.
What will my pupils do in the session?
Pupils will:
- Investigate the Gods that were important to the Romans in Scotland and to the lives of the diverse communities who lived in and around the Roman Fort at Inveresk, near Edinburgh
- Develop their understanding of Roman religion
- See Roman artefacts and replicas up close
- Use museum objects as primary sources
- Participate in interactive quizzes
- Apply their critical thinking to identify a mystery object from the period.
