Support for home educators

We are home to over 12 million objects, covering a range of topics, across four museums: National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh, National War Museum in Edinburgh, National Museum of Flight in East Lothian, and National Museum of Rural Life in East Kilbride. 

How we can support your learning

What’s on offer:

Whether you are learning about dinosaurs, ancient Egypt or the Second World War, we have a variety of different learning activities which you can take part in, from self led visits and handling boxes to exhibitions and online digital sessions.  

Learning Hub:

From biodiversity films and museum trails to Celtic crafts and bug safaris, discover film, stories, games and more with our learning hub. Our resources can be used to support at-home learning or as part of a museum visit.  Explore by type of resource, theme, subject or level.

The National War Museum is located in Edinburgh Castle, run by Historic Environment Scotland. In order to manage numbers and communicate updated COVID guidance, educational group bookings are currently being managed by Historic Environment Scotland.
