National Museums Scotland are inviting pupils aged 10-18 and their teachers to tell us what they think visits to museums should be like for young people. We want to know what they find enjoyable about museums and what they think should be changed or improved. This will help us build better experiences for teachers and young people visiting museums across Scotland.
Working with the arts organisation WAVEparticle, we’re focussing on Primary 6-S6 pupils and are gathering feedback in a range of different ways, including focus groups, interviews and online surveys. This research is part of the Scotland 365 project which aims to transform the way we engage young people with our museums and collections.
The online surveys have now closed and we're working on the final report and recommendations. We plan to share the results of this research in May.
This activity, to create a display in class, supports conversations about museums, values, personal experience and heritage.
We’d love to see what your classes produce and you can share with us via Twitter @NMSEngage #NationalMuseumofYou
How do we help a young person think about a lifelong relationship with a museum? Try this short activity with your pupils to help them empathise with their older selves.
