Museum Stories: ancient Egypt

Join our museum curators to find out more about their jobs, what they enjoyed when they were children, and to hear some fascinating facts about ancient Egypt.

What will we do?

Find out more about our ancient Egyptian collections as your class meet the staff working behind the scenes. 

Pupils will meet Dr Dan Potter who worked on our ancient Egypt gallery. He will reveal the secrets behind some of the objects that pupils can see during their visit. Pupils will also hear about how Dan came to work in museums, and what he was interested in when he was in primary school!

Classes will compete against museum staff in our ancient Egyptian picture quiz to win a prize.  

After the event, you will also have dedicated time to use our ancient Egypt handling collection to allow your class to get hands on with real and replica objects. You can also explore our ancient Egypt gallery using our Hedjet's Adventure trail

Length of session:

60 minute auditorium show plus 45 minute handling box session.

Cost

£3.50 per pupil.

Each class has a bespoke timetable for their day, you will be advised of this upon booking.
