Step back into the Homefront

Bring the Homefront to life with this immersive object handling experience. The class will investigate four real life stories of Scots in the Second World War through a mix of real and replica objects in our 1940s inspired room.

What will my pupils do in the workshop?

Pupils will investigate different aspects of the Second World War through the stories of four people and their possessions. An introduction from our learning team and notes on the objects to facilitate learning will be provided.

Length of session:

90mins (room has a maximum capacity of 20 so classes may have to split the 90minute time slot)

Timings:

10:30/12:30 (Check your booking for timings and arrive at the museum at least 15 minutes before the start of your workshop) 

Dates available:

Monday - Thursday during term time. 

Curriculum links:

SOC-2-03a - I can investigate a Scottish historical theme to discover how past events or the actions of individuals or groups have shaped Scottish history. 

SOC 2-06a - I can discuss why people and events from a particular time in the past were important, placing them within a historical sequence. 

SOC 2-04a - I can compare and contrast a society in the past with my own and contribute to a discussion of the similarities and differences.
