Detailed session info

Sunday 21 September

To mark Scottish Archaeology Month, this session will take place in our Early People gallery. This gallery explores how people lived from around 8000 BC to AD 1100. The objects on display show how people used the land’s resources, interacted with each other and made sense of the world. Learn how to draw these fascinating archaeological treasures, including stone, silver, bronze and gold.

Sunday 26 October

This session will take place in our Traditions in Sculpture gallery. From the earliest times, sculptors have created works intended to inspire devotion, to tell stories, to commemorate individuals or to capture beauty in a lasting form. This gallery contrasts classical and Christian sculpture with those in the Hindu and Buddhist traditions. Join us to sketch a variety of marble, terracotta, bronze and brass sculptures.

Sunday 23 November

This session will take place in our Art of Living gallery. This gallery displays examples of decorative art as expressions of beauty, taste, power and devotion. You will be shown how to capture the varied qualities of faces, fabric and figures sculpted in clay, marble, plaster, terracotta and wood.
