Lower stone of a quern of Niedermendig lava, from the Roman fort of Newstead, Roxburghshire (Scottish Borders). Forms a pair with upper stone X.FRA 1641 A. Diameter 420mm; height of edge 114mm. Weight 36kg. Found in pit X. Illustrated in Curle 1911, pl XVII, left.
