Description

Case of brass, square, probably to hold a copy of the Qur'an, with an arabesque design on the front, and engraved with Qur'anic verses, prayers and invocations to Allah, Muhammad and Ali: West Asia, Iran, Safavid, dated AH 1109/ CE 1697 - 1698

Brass case, square, with opening on small side, on hinges; front with arabesques in cutwork, inscriptions in different styles all-over; including prayers such as nadi aliyyan on the front; the names of the twelve imams on the sides and Qur'anic verses including Sura 2,255-257 and 110 on the back
