Physical description

Weaving tools, six parts, including: Shuttle or Ripang, wound with weft threads and used to shuttle between the sheds of the warp threads to create fabric; Breast beam or Rakup, which is attached to the backstrap for the weaver to maintain and manipulate the tension of the warp while weaving; Warp beam or Tendai, which is mounted onto the frame and holds in position the warp; Laze rods or Lidi, used to prevent warp threads from tangling; Thread heddle or Benang Karap, to separate the two groups of warp threads; Shed stick or Karap, to facilitate the raising of alternative warp threads; Beater or Belia, a shard shaped wood to facilitate the insertion of the weft threads onto the warp strands and beat the yarns to produce fabric. There are also two lengths of string to attached the warp beam to the loom frame. As this is a work-in-progress piece V.2019.71.1 and V.2019.71.2 are physically entwined.
