About Okolo: Artwork by Nkem Okwechime
Informed by his research of the museum’s African collection, 'Okolo' by Scottish-Nigerian artist and printmaker Nkem Okwechime explores the intersection of European and West African identity.
This installation features artwork based on observations and inspiration from visits to the National Museums Collection Centre. The artist has worked with groups of young people from surrounding community groups to co-create responses to the collection, enabling them to share in learning about the meaning behind the objects and his own artistic practice.
This installation is featured as part of the Edinburgh Art Festival.
