Edinburgh Science Festival Online
4 Apr - 19 Apr 2020
Edinburgh Science Festival, scheduled for 4–19 April 2020, has been cancelled in response to the global spread of COVID-19. Although the physical event won’t go ahead as planned, a digital alternative has been launched called Elements of #EdSciFest.
Discover some amazing science from inside your own home as we explore the elemental themes of Edinburgh Science Festival 2020.
We’re proud to be a major venue and programming partner for Edinburgh Science Festival every Easter, showcasing innovative science programmes from a whole host of organisations as well as contributing activities and events linked to our own collections and displays.
Our friends at Edinburgh Science have created digital alternatives of some of their Festival highlights, including the Pale Blue Dot exhibition allowing you to delve deep into our seas and oceans in an online exploration of everything marine.
Focusing on the 2020 theme ‘Elementary’, a digital mini-Festival Elements of #EdSciFest explores science’s role in addressing the biggest global environmental challenges through five strands – Air, Earth, Fire, Water and Aether. Discover digital delights, curated articles and downloadable resources covering all the Science Festival favourites.
Join in the conversation and debate online with #EdSciFest.
Meanwhile, we’ve been investigating our own collections, distilling our research and stories down into the five elements of Edinburgh Science Festival 2020: Fire, Earth, Aether, Air and Water. Have fun exploring as we add more content through the run of the festival.
