Chalice

Description

Silver-gilt chalice with bell-shaped cup and a stem and foot decorated with the Old Testament stories of Melchizedek giving bread and wine to Abraham and the Israelite spies returning with the giant bunch of grapes and chiselled with cherub heads set with emerald opal, dyed quartz, paste, rubies, garnets, turquoise and quartz: first half of the 17th century
