Description

Sample of printed cotton cloth showing part of a commemorative handkerchief with a copper plate printed image of Marshall St. Arnaud, commander in chief of the French army during the the Crimean War. There is also a smaller depiction of a horse and rider. This was produced to commemorate British and French victories in the Crimean War and would have been an ephemeral design, part of the Turkey Red Collection: Scottish, Dunbartonshire, 1853 - 1856
