Description

Sample of dyed and printed cotton cloth showing a handkerchief design with a fox's head in border and smaller fox heads in circular motifs in the filling. The white areas were produced by the lead plate discharge technique and were then overprinted with the black detail. Part of the Turkey Red Collection A.1962.1266.1 - A.1962.1266.78, with subdivisions, totalling c. 40,000 items: Scottish, Dunbartonshire, by John Orr Ewing and Co., pre 1866
