Description

Sample of dyed and printed cotton cloth showing a handkerchief design with Masonic symbolism including pillars, an anchor, a coffin and crosskeys. The white areas were produced by the lead plate discharge process and then the black detail was overprinted by copper plate. Part of the Turkey Red Collection A.1962.1266.1 - A.1962.1266.78, with subdivisions, totalling c. 40,000 items: Scottish, Dunbartonshire, by John Orr Ewing and Co., pre 1866
