Description

Casket of copper-based metal, cast with four feet, and with a lid on two exterior strap hinges; hasp and staple for locking at the front; engraved and originally inlaid all over with silver and a black substance: West Asia, Iran, Herat, c. 1200

Physical description

Copper-based metal, cast with feet, and its abstract bird heads; the cast lid is slightly redder in colour and attached with two external cast strap hinges, both broken and repaired (soldered), they are fixed with copper pins; hasp and staple to lock casket at the front; lid with two holes where handle was attached; decoration engraved and inlaid with silver, traces of a black substance used to fill engraved background around benedictory inscription and vegetal motifs; pattern of circles engraved in the inside of the lid.
