Fukusa

Description

Deep orange embroidered silk fukusa (gift cover) lined with orange silk with four tassels of gold thread, only one still attached to one corner, the embroidery depicts a wisteria, leaves and panicles of white flowers in brown, gold, shades of green and white threads; the orange lining has a woven family crest on reverse: Japan, mid-Meiji era, 1884 - 1899
