Piece of dark brown wood mounted in silver, parts raised in the shape of pyramids, encased in brown leather, and topped with a silver plaque that is inscribed: 'This piece of wood was taken / from the Mahdi's Tomb at Omdurman / Sept 1898 / J.G.R.'.
