Eclipse Blue is constructed from individually hand thrown sections which are sanded and polished before and after the firings to ensure a speckled, smooth and tactile stone like finish. Not simply a designer of conventional ceramic design, Chambers’ work pushes the boundaries with its intricacy and sculptural form. They are minimalist yet complex objects built from layering many sections within a single form. Influenced by constructivism and optical art, he also finds inspiration from modern architecture and design.

Eclipse Blue is displayed in the Pushing the Boundaries section of Making and Creating, which showcases makers using advanced technologies as well as makers using traditional methods to produce extraordinary work.

Chambers began his creative journey in 1993 by training in handmade tableware at a local pottery school under the guidance of potter Philip Wood. After graduating with an MA from the Royal College of Art, London, he now works from his Newport studio on the Isle of Wight.
