Description

Sword (katana), with scabbard of brick-red lacquered wood with metal mounts, hilt covered in rayskin and bound with white silk into which is fitted a pair of menuki ornaments, and a tsuba of shakudo nanako and gold decorated with a lion-dog (shishi) and peony, Japan, possibly 18th century
