There are many opportunities for undertaking research with our staff and our collections.

The Museum has a Memorandum of Understanding with the University of Edinburgh, and enjoys Independent Research Organisation status with the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) and the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC), through which we secure grants.

We are members of the national AHRC funded Collaborative Doctoral Partnership (CDP) and the NERC funded Doctoral Training Programme (DTP), and host a number of students through these programmes.
